I understand you like this:

  1. You queue a stream.
  2. You hit play.
  3. You pause the stream.
  4. You unpause the stream after some time.
  5. You hear a small amount of audio and then the stream 'ends'.

This is exactly what I would expect. What is the behavior you expect?

I would expect that the stream continues(i.e. is restarted) instead of stopping soon.

So you expect the data be skipped. That is what happens if you hit stop to "pause" and play to resume.
Is that what you think about?

Yea, for audiostreams(like icecast streams, shoutcast etc.) i would expect that.
