  • Component changed from RoarAudio Main Package to RoarAudio Project

nedko imported the CVS tarball, and intermittenly applies updates as he receives them.

shogsbro has:

Next step:

  • ph3-der-loewe to find a way to install a recent version of Git
  • ph3-der-loewe to consider commiting changes directly using Git, in addition to the CVS commits

Just a comment about what happened yesterday:

I registered a new account on github. They seemed to have had some technical trouble as the seven-tentacle-octocat told me. Today I found my account removed and the orga account reset. I have not got any mail telling me about my account removal nor anything else. There is also no info on the homepage about it. stephan confirmed me he has not got any mail, too. Still waiting for shogsbro to confirm me the reset of the orga account and if he got any mail about it.

github keeps marketing on front page to be very stable and do backups. But seems they have not had backuped me...

This is a negative point against github. I do not claim this to be a negative point on git but we should consider if we want to trust github to hold our data.

Please comment!

actually i dont know what happened to github.... i will check it a bit further when i am back home later today...

if we choose to don't trust github and use out own gitserver:

  • we could choose to host gitorious its a fullblown a bit github like app with webinterface
  • we could maybe also use gitosis/gitalite which is a bunch of compiled scripts which are configurable via a administrative repo

I don't know if human driven services will work for lion driven projects ;)

actually i would still say that we should host our own server and only sync with github(public downloads then over github).

This way we can realize private projects easily.
Atm i tend to make a gitolite/gitosis repo with a cronjob/hook to create the current/known wowking snapshots + checksums

Would such a setup prevent us from using the accept-changes process as described in #15?

I just created an account ph3-der-loewe on github, and will forward the password to you via private IRC. I used lion@… as the email for that account (and set the organisation email to roaraudio@…). This account is now an owner of the RoarAudio organisation.
